Alert: Hwy 140 Closed from Briceburg Grade to Cedar Lodge

MARIPOSA COUNTY — Highway 140 is closed west of Yosemite National Park from the top of Briceburg Grade to Cedar Lodge due to predicted weather in the area.

According to an alert issued by the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, a weather system moving into the area Friday afternoon has the potential to cause large amounts of debris flow in the Merced River Canyon section of Hwy 140.

The National Weather Service in Hanford says there is a good chance of thunderstorms moving through the mountain area between noon and 8 p.m.

There is emergency access through the park only for residents in El Portal who need to enter or leave.
