MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES–An Areal Flood Advisory has been issued for areas in Fresno, Madera, Mariposa and Merced Counties. It will expire this evening, Thursday, March 9th, at 8:00pm.
WHAT
Stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall and snow melt is expected.

A portion of central California including the following counties:
Fresno
Madera
Mariposa
Merced

Until 8:00pm, Thursday, March 9th, 2023
Impacts
Rises in small streams and normally dry creek beds and overflowing poor drainage areas.
Additional Details
at 2:04pm, doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include:

- Chowchilla
- Madera Acres
- Yosemite Lakes
- Parksdale
- Parkwood
- Bonadelle
- Ranchos-Madera
- Mariposa
- Planada
- Catheys Valley
- Le Grand
- Lake McClure
- Millerton Lake
- Friant
Precautionary/ Preparedness Actions
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads, Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
