NORTH FORK – First responders were called out to a dirt bike vs. Jeep accident on Autumn Ridge Way this afternoon.
After receiving several different locations as the site of the accident, they were able to locate the injured party about 4 miles up Autumn Ridge from the Cascadel Woods gate.
A 27-year-old man was riding a dirt bike on the narrow and winding road, when he came around a tight corner and crashed into the front of a Jeep.
According on one witness, the driver of the Jeep was not going very fast when the dirt bike ran into her. The Forest Service investigator on scene did not want to comment on the accident.
The driver of the dirt bike suffered a broken left leg, and was laying in the middle of the road, which was blocked for over an hour while EMS worked to prepare him for transport.
It seemed to be a very busy holiday weekend on Peckinpah Mountain, as quite a few people had to stop and wait for the road to be cleared.
The injured man was taken by Sierra Ambulance to the meadow across from the Clubhouse in Cascadel Woods, where dozens of residents gathered to watch the activity.
The patient was loaded into a SkyLife helicopter and transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
Engine #11 and Squad #11 from North Fork, and Cal Fire Engine #4275 from the Rancheria responded, along with Sierra Ambulance, CHP and the U.S. Forest Service.
