Aguilar Sentenced For Beating Puppy

MADERA – Janice Aguilar, 39, of Oakhurst, was sentenced on Tuesday, Apr. 9, in the Sierra Division of the Madera Superior Court at Bass Lake, on her conviction for felony cruelty to an animal.On Aug. 29, 2012, a witness observed Ms. Aguilar holding a small puppy on the ground and punching it repeatedly with her fist until its eye was dislocated from its socket. On Mar. 12, 2013, she entered a plea to the felony charge.

The Superior Court sentenced Ms. Aguilar to three years felony probation, and to spend 76 days in custody at the Madera County Department of Corrections. She was given 76 days credit for the time she already served.

Aguilar was also ordered not to own or possess any animals during the time she is on probation, according to Madera County District Attorney Michael Keitz.
