Action Packed Weekend At Chowchilla Fair

CHOWCHILLA – Blue Jeans and Country Dreams is the theme for the 2015 Chowchilla Fair. The excitement begins Thursday, May 14, and will run through Sunday, May 17.

This year’s action packed entertainment kicks off with bull riding, mutton busting, and an FFA greased pig competition on Thursday evening in the grandstands.

Admission into this event is $8 for ages 6 and older. Local FFA and 4-H Clubs are selling discounted advanced sale tickets.

Friday’s grandstand event will be Monster Energy Freestyle Motocross. Three of the world’s best riders will be preforming incredible jumps and gravity-defying airborne stunts as they soar 40 feet overhead between take-off and landing ramps 75 feet apart. There will be three, twenty-five-minute shows. Admission into each show is $3 for ages 6 and older. The first of these events will be free to kids ages 12 and under.

Saturday night in the grandstands get ready for some ground pounding action as highly modified trucks and tractors duel it out, dragging a 40,000 lb. Terminator sled down a 300-foot-long track in hopes of earning a “full pull.”

Race fans get ready to watch IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, Hobby Stocks, and Mini-Stocks race to the finish line on Sunday evening. Admission into both Saturday and Sunday’s grandstand events is $8 for ages 6 and older.

Life in the Fast Lane, an Eagle’s Tribute Band will be preforming two shows on the Main Stage on Friday, May 15, So “Take It Easy” as you drive down “Life In The Fast Lane,” past the “Witchy Woman” and look into her “Lyin’ Eyes”… she “Can’t Tell You Why,” so just “Get Over It” because you know you’re a “Desperado” and a “Victim Of Love.” Your “Heartache Tonight,” is “Already Gone” because you had a “Tequila Sunrise” at, of course, the “Hotel California!”

Austin Webb, a Top 40 country music recording artist for Streamsound Records, produced by Grammy award-winning Byron Gallimore, will be taking the Main Stage on Saturday, May 16. Austin grew up in Greenville, SC, listening to healthy doses of Motown, R&B, rock, and retro country from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

When Austin was 16 he picked up his first guitar and began pouring out his emotions into songs. Austin describes his music as “country soul.”

“It’s country and it’s soul. I think it’s therapeutic. I try to stay as honest and relevant as possible in the lyrical content, and when I write, I’m writing about things I believe in. It’s not exactly what you say but it’s a lot of how you say it. I think that my music is at its core honest at all times.”

Vendetta Pro Wrestling returns to the Chowchilla Fair on the Melee Tour 2015, Sunday, May 17, featuring former WWE Superstars Ricardo Rodriguez, Carlito, and former NWA World Heavyweight Champion and founder of Impact Wrestling and Global Force Wrestling, Jeff Jarrett. Also appearing will be Vendetta Vixens, lucha libre stars, and many other stars from around the world.

Daily entertainment includes hypnotist Michael Mezmer, Magician Frank Thurston, balloon artist Dennis Forel, Fido 500 racing dogs, and Circus Imagination. There will also be live judged food contests each night of the Fair.
