4th District Service Academy Night At YHS

OAKHURST – All interested mountain area high school students and their families are invited to attend an informational meeting hosted at Yosemite High School (YHS), offered to educate participants on the path to attendance at a United States service and military academy.

Academy Night, sponsored by the 4th Congressional District and Congressman Tom McClintock, is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8, from 6:30 – 8 p.m., in the YHS Library. Representatives from Military Service Academies will be present and ready to discuss their respective programs, and answer questions from the crowd.

A rep from Congressman McClintock’s office will also be available, to discuss the process for obtaining a congressional nomination for admittance into an academy.

The United States service or military academies are federal educational establishments for the undergraduate education and training of commissioned officers for the United States Armed Forces. U.S. service academies include Military, Naval, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.

This is an informational presentation for students who are interested in attending one of the nation’s service academies or the Reserve Officer Training Corps, and for their parents. The event is open to all high school students, parents and educators from throughout the 4th Congressional District.
