MARIPOSA – The annual fashion show runway event hosted by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) steps out on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Mariposa Fairgrounds.
This year’s show promises to be a wildly entertaining afternoon of “Boots and Bling,” silent and live auction, great finger food, plus a few surprises.
Local models will hit the runway showcasing Mariposa clothing retailers with a western twist. The show starts at 3 p.m. in Building A at the Fairgrounds. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased from any AAUW member, at Casto Oaks Fine Wine & Art, and at Daily & Company Real Estate in Mariposa, or at the door.
Proceeds from the fashion show and auction fund scholarships for local girls to attend Tech Trek, a weeklong science camp for girls about to enter high school.
“This fashion show is the biggest single fundraising activity put on by Mariposa AAUW,” says Cindy Harp. “The proceeds send middle school girls to math and science camp each summer. Camp is literally life-changing for these girls, and the more we make, the more girls we can sponsor!”
