Yosemite Bank Branch Closes In Coarsegold

COARSEGOLD – Yosemite Bank has announced they will be closing their branch in Coarsegold as of Friday, May 31.

We spoke with J. Mike McGowan, President and CEO of Premier Valley Bank, parent company of Yosemite Bank, who told us that they were unable to generate the level of business activity that would warrant a profitable operation at the Coarsegold location.“It’s unfortunate, but that’s where we are,” said McGowan. “We did a lot of analysis before we made our decision, and a large percentage of our customers do some if not all of their banking in Oakhurst or Fresno. We’re confident that they will still have an outlet for banking with Yosemite Bank.”

Letters were sent to all branch customers on Friday, Mar. 1 announcing the closing.

McGowan expressed his disappointment about the situation, and says the company is trying to absorb all of the existing group of employees into other parts of the bank, either in the Oakhurst or Fresno branches.

“We’re trying to be sure they all have a home,” he said.

It is very sad that the interest and needs of the senior customers of this bank is not cinsidered when taking such a drastic move as closing the brnach that best serves them. At least you could have the decency to keep the ATM opened. Now we have to spend $8.00 at the least to go to Oakhusrt just to bank a check. Or if we go to Fresno it is at least twice that much. I’m sorry we don’t matter to your bank. I have already heard many say they will be changing banks just the lack of concern for us.
