OAKHURST – Parents and guardians of Yosemite High School (YHS) International Baccalaureate (IB) and Honors students are asked to attend an International Baccalaureate Parent Organization (IBPO) meeting this evening, Monday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will take place in Sr. Steve Browning’s classroom, room 1504 of Ansel Adams building.

YHS Vice Principal Diane Adney, said the IBPO is being organized to support the International Baccalaureate program at YHS. The group will be discussing action items for the IBPO, as well as electing officers for this newly formed organization.

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepare students, age 16 – 19, for success at university and life beyond, according to the IB website. The program has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students, gaining recognition from the world’s leading universities.

Out of reportedly more than 24,000 public secondary schools in the United States, only 1,100 offer an IB diploma. Yosemite Union High School has been an IB World School since January 1992, offering, specifically, the IB Diploma Programme.
