OAKHURST – An Arizona man is behind bars after sheriff’s deputies seized a stolen vehicle in Oakhurst.
During a routine patrol check near Oakhurst Park shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Deputy Miguel Hernandez spotted a black colored Mazda with the trunk up and feet sticking out.
The car came back reported stolen out of Arizona.
A man lying inside the car was identified as Terry Lee Howard, 22, of Page, Arizona.
Howard claimed he borrowed the car and headed to San Francisco to find work, but a wrong route took him to Oakhurst instead.
The wrong-way driver was transported to Madera County Department of Corrections where he remains jailed with bail set at $10,000.
