Winter Storm Warning For Sierra Nevada

MOUNTAIN AREA — The first in a series of storms coming through Central California this week will bring rain and snow to the area, and a winter storm warning has been issued for the southern Sierra Nevada from Yosemite National Park to the Tulare/Kern county line, from 10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4 through 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5. According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, up to 16 inches of snow could fall above 6,000 feet elevation, with lesser amounts down to 5,000 feet.

Drivers are reminded that road chain restrictions and possible road closures could be in place at times this week, as more storm systems are still expected.
