Wet Weather Starts Again Friday

MOUNTAIN AREA — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Southern Sierra Nevada above 6,000 feet, from 7 a.m. Friday, Mar. 11 through 4 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 12.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, snow will begin above 7,000 feet early Friday morning, becoming heavy at times during the afternoon and early evening. The snow level will lower to around 6,000 feet during the evening, tapering off into snow showers by late Friday night.

In the foothills, hazardous weather may include heavy rain during the day Friday, most likely after 10 a.m., and through Friday night. Drivers are encouraged to watch for road hazards including fallen tree limbs, mud and rock slides.

Saturday is expected to be cloudy with a small chance of rain. Heavy rain is expected to return again Sunday and Sunday night, with showers and continued precipitation on and off through the week.
