Volunteers Needed For Animal Disaster Team

CCADTOAKHURST — The Central California Animal Disaster Team (CCADT) is preparing for the wildland fire season, and recruiting volunteer responders to assist with emergency animal sheltering and evacuation of companion pets, livestock, and horses.

Volunteers are required to attend a workshop scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Yosemite Gateway Association of Realtors (YGAR), located at 40298 Junction Drive.

In the past two years, the CCADT says it has responded with Red Cross Central California to five wildland fires in the Oakhurst and North Fork areas. Volunteers also respond to emergencies in five other counties: Mariposa, Fresno, Tulare, Kings, and Merced.

This free and informative workshop will introduce participants to CCADT training requirements, policies and procedures, and what it takes to be an effective responder.

Visit the website at CCADT.org for more details. The deadline to register is March 26. For more information Contact Mary Reimer, CCADT Operations Director at maryreimer@ccadt.org.
