Vegetation Fire Near Road 211 In O’Neals

O’NEALS — Just after 5 p.m. today crews were called to respond to a fire burning in vegetation on the east side of Road 211 in O’Neals.

First engine on scene reported the fire at five to seven acres and running to the northeast. Access is difficult on the ground, while crews in the air watch for power lines and towers on the north and west.

Traffic on Road 211 is not affected at this time, however, emergency vehicles are traveling on Road 211 and Road 210 and caution is required on these winding roads.

Madera County Sheriff’s deputies are warning residents along Road 210 of the danger, though there are no evacuations at this time.

Air Attack, air tankers and at least one helicopter are overhead. Engines continue to arrive on scene. Resources being released from the Spring Fire in Mariposa County are being made available for this new start.

At about 6:10 p.m. the fire was reported to be 20 to 30 acres and additional strike teams were being called up.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
