Update On The Detwiler Fire Sunday 11 AM

MARIPOSA COUNTY — Firefighters continue their work to secure the line around the remaining northeast portion of the Detwiler Fire and to hit hot spots inside the perimeter.

Cal Fire posted this photo on their Twitter page, showing the shoulder patches of just a few of the dozens of fire departments and agencies who worked together on the suppression efforts.

The fire is holding at 81,826 acres and is 85 percent contained. UPDATE 6 p.m. – Now at 90 percent containment.

The containment number does not mean that there is only line around 90 percent of the fire. It means that fire officials are 100 percent confident in 90 percent of the line.

There are currently 2,744 personnel assigned to the incident including 174 engines, 33 water tenders, 76 hand crews, 12 dozers, 5 helicopters and air tankers as available.

Crews continue to be demobilized to return to their units or be made available for other fires across the region.

All evacuation orders have been lifted, and all evacuation centers are now closed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
