Update On The Ben Fire Thursday 8 PM

MARIPOSA — The Ben fire, burning in Mariposa County, is holding at 630 acres and is 40 percent contained.

There are currently 40 engines, 18 crews, 5 dozers and 9 water tenders assigned to the incident.

Ben Hur and Buckeye, and Ben Hur at the entrance to the Quick Ranch are now open to residents only, according to Cal Fire.

Cal Fire, Mariposa County Fire, Mariposa County Sheriff, PG&E and CHP are the cooperating agencies.

An Incident Command Post has been set up at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.

The Ben Fire was reported just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, near 3081 Ben Hur Road.

No structures are threatened at this time, and no evacuations have been ordered.

Fire suppression resources both on the the ground and in the air continue to construct and improve containment lines around the perimeter.

The fire is burning in grass and oak woodland.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
