Update On Oakwood Fire 11 AM Monday

MADERA COUNTY — The Oakwood Fire, which started on Saturday, June 10, at about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Roads 209 and 406, is holding at 1,450 acres with 75 percent containment.

A quick-moving storm brought rain and wind to the burn area yesterday evening.

Crews continue to strengthen firelines and do mop-up of hot spots within the perimeter.

There are currently 139 personnel assigned to the incident including 15 engines and 6 crews.

Air Attack continues to monitor the fire as needed.

Cal Fire will issue an updated containment estimate later today, and we will provide that information as it becomes available.

Cooperating agencies include PG&E, the U.S. Forest Serivce, CHP, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Fresno County Fire and Madera County Fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
