Update On Firefighters Injured In Rollover Accident

CLOVIS – After their fire engine rolled over in a crash on Highway 168 near Clovis on Sunday, all five Stanislaus National Forest firefighters on board were taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

The Forest Service reports that two were released the day of the incident, one was released last night, and two are in stable condition undergoing routine tests before also being released from the hospital.

The firefighters were injured on Sunday, July 12, at 7:30 a.m. when an SUV attempting to pass on the right in an intersection at Highway 168 and Shepherd Avenue, hit the right front wheel of the big engine, causing it to go out of control and roll over four times.

There is no word as yet from CHP as to whether the woman driving the SUV will be ticketed or face any charges in the incident.
