Tree Mortality Workshop In Ponderosa Basin

MARIPOSA COUNTY — The public is encouraged to attend a Tree Mortality Workshop / Resource Fair in Ponderosa Basin at County Fire Station #32, 5618 Creel Road on Saturday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to  2 p.m.

The event is being hosted by the Mariposa County Office of Emergency Services.

This will be an all-encompassing event to connect land/homeowners with vital resources to assist in the mitigation of dead or dying trees, and is a great opportunity to have questions answered about what local agencies are doing and what resources may be available to private landowners.

On hand to answer questions and make presentations will be representatives from these agencies:

  • Cal Fire
  • Yosemite/Sequoia RC & Development Council
  • Mariposa County Resource Conservation District
  • Natural Resource Conservation Service
  • Mariposa County Fire Safe Council
  • Office of Emergency Services
  • Sierra Nevada Conservancy
  • Farmers Insurance
  • US Forest Service
  • PG&E

There will be presentations from 9 – 11 a.m., followed by one-on-one assistance from agencies to homeowners from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

  • Chipping Program
  • Homeowner Insurance
  • Dealing With Tree Mortality
  • Cost Sharing Programs
  • Obtaining Cost Share Funding

10:20 – 10:50 How To Build and Burn Brush Piles. Speaker: Pre-Fire Engineer Frank Bigelow, CAL FIRE MMU

10:50 – 11:15 Homeowner Insurance Availability in Wildfire Zones. Speaker: Patrice  Clements, Farmers Insurance Broker, Mariposa

15 minute break / transition to one-on-one Resource Fair portion
