OAKHURST — Oakhurst Family Chiropractic is an official Toys for Tots drop-off location for the mountain area communities, and they’re collecting toys now through Friday, Dec. 7.
“One of my special joys for the holiday season is collecting toys for the under privileged children and the Marine Corp Reserve’s Toys for Tots program,” says Dr. James E. Starnes, who has been participating in the program since 1991.
“Christmas is first about remembering our Lord, Jesus Christ,” Dr. Starnes continues. “It also has special meanings about giving. I especially enjoy my children’s faces come Christmas morning: their excitement, joy and glow. Unfortunately, there are still thousands of children who do not get to experience that joy – which brings us a unique opportunity to put a smile on their faces.”
Dr. Starnes and Veronoka will gladly accept any donations from area residents. They ask for new, unwrapped toys, of at least a $ 10 value, if possible.
Oakhurst Family Chiropractic also hosts a very special reception on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon, Dr. Starnes explains.
“New patients are invited to bring in two new toys with a $10 value each, in exchange for all first-day office procedures, to include the office evaluation, orthopedic exam, neurological exam, and if possible, first day treatment. Returning patients will be seen for a single toy with a $10 value.” He’s hoping the Marines will be on hand to assist. “Please stop by and have some snacks with us. Wishes to all for a blessed holiday!”
The office will collect toys through Dec. 7 and then the Marines pick them up, to coordinate the wrapping, separation, sorting, and distribution.
