Tony Krizan’s Sierra Nevada Mountains Series

OAKHURST – Tony Krizan, local adventurer, author & photographer shares his 30 plus years of hiking experiences and photos with this exciting series. His July slide show presentation will feature, “Sierra High Route” from South Lake outside of Bishop to Roads End in Kings Canyon.

This wilderness adventure will dazzle you with over 10 days of remote high elevation mountain scrambling.

Preview first hand those mountain passes, peaks and lakes with elevation between 9,768 and 12,300 feet that challenged Tony for over 45 wilderness miles.

We sincerely hope Tony’s adventures will encourage you to explore the boundaries of our wilderness; Celebrating the 125th Anniversary of our National Parks, igniting a curiosity of the outdoors that will last a lifetime. Within our Yosemite National Park lies an endless wonderland of outdoor discovery. Tony has captured its beauty and grandeur, and we are honored to host his lecture series.

Vennacher Needle and Frozen Lake Pass - photo by Tony Krizan Join the Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites, Crab Cakes Restaurant, REI of Fresno and the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau in honoring the 125th Anniversary of Yosemite, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. We will be hosting Tony Krizan, local photographer, author and avid hiker as he takes you on a spectacular photo journey of hiking trails in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

This event series features wilderness hiking trails within the mountains surrounding Yosemite, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park. The slide show presentation will allow you to experience the trails and endless views as if you were there, and learn about their history.

The presentations will be held in the spacious lobby of the Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites located at 40644 Highway 41 in Oakhurst from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. There will also be a special presentation at the REI at River Park in Fresno.

Schedule of Presentations:

  • July 11, High Sierra Passes (Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites, Oakhurst)
  • August 8, Lake Italy Loop (Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites, Oakhurst)
  • September 19, Lost in Kings Canyon (Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites, Oakhurst)
  • September 29, Minaret Mountains (REI of Fresno)

All presentations are open to the public and free of charge.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary variety of hors-d’oeuvres for each presentation at Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites provided by Crab Cakes Restaurant in Oakhurst. In conjunction with presentations, REI of Fresno will display various kinds of extreme hiking equipment in the Southgate Hotel lobby. The same type of equipment Tony would use on one of his many adventures.

After the presentations, autographed copies of Tony’s two books on hiking the historic Yosemite Trails will be available.
