Suspects Arrested For Stolen Property, Drugs, Child Endangerment

COARSEGOLD — The Madera Special Investigations Unit and detectives from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a residence in the Yosemite Lakes Park (YLP) area on Friday, Mar. 17.

Subsequently, two arrests were made, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Nelson Mendez, 34, and Tiffany Quarles, 29, were arrested for being in possession of $1,000 dollars worth of stolen property, for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to sell, and child endangerment-related charges.

Nelson Mendez, a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms, was also found to be in possession of a stolen Derringer handgun.

The search warrant was the result of an investigation into several vehicle and residential burglaries in the Oakhurst, Yosemite Lakes Park and Indian Lakes area.

Both Mendez and Quarles were booked into Madera Department of Corrections. Mendez is being held on a $50,000 bond for being a felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and other charges. He has had five previous arrests in Madera County.
