Stolen Motorcycle Leads To Chase And Arrest

OAKHURST — A high-speed chase through Oakhurst this afternoon ended in an arrest after the driver crashed on the north end of town.

At around 2 p.m. today, a Madera County Sheriff’s Office deputy initiated a traffic stop on a motorcycle that had no license plates and loud exhaust, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcycle failed to yield, says the Sheriff’s Office, and the deputy initiated lights and siren as the motorcycle attempted to flee.

Operating the bike at speeds estimated by the deputy at up to 80 miles per hour, the driver crossed over double yellow lines during the chase on Highway 41.

The motorcycle eventually left the highway and went up a hill where it lost control and crashed near El Cid Mexican Restaurant on the north end of town.

A short foot chase ensued and the suspect was apprehended and arrested without further incident, with assistance from other deputies, including two K9 Units.

The suspect has been identified by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office as Brian Dean Flynn, 45, of Oakhurst.

It was later discovered that the motorcycle was stolen out of Madera County, says the S.O.

Flynn was booked into the Madera County jail on charges including possession of stolen property, felony reckless evading, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.

He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
