Start Your Engines For Coarsegold Classic Car Show

COARSEGOLD – If you love engines, or shiny things, or both – it’s time to rev up, because registration is open for the Coarsegold Classic Car Show. Whether you enter the show with your favorite wheeled obsession or just save the date on your calendar, it’s set for Saturday, June 14. The car spectacular takes place on the green at Coarsegold Historic Village from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Admission is free to the public, while advance purchase entry fee is $20 and on-site registration is $25. It’s a fun outing for all ages, one day before Father’s Day, and the proceeds go to charity.

Coarsegold Car Show 2013Featuring nine trophy classes for cars, trucks and motorcycles, the Coarsegold Classic is now in its seventh year. Classes for winners include Best of Show, Cars 1900-’39, Cars 1940-’59, Cars 1960-1976, as well as Trucks in the same three time divisions, plus Motorcycles and Foreign.

Last year’s exciting entries ranged from the traditional to unique, such as the ’59 pink Cadillac, the ’73 Pinzgauer 4WD made in Switzerland, a ’54 Studebaker, and an elegant Jaguar displayed with a bottle of champagne and a jar of Grey Poupon mustard in the back seat on a tray.

Past Best in Show winners include Skip Bradlee’s 1932 Ford 3 Window Coupe in 2013, and Steve Core’s 1929 Ford Model A in 2012. Joe and Pam Delgado took home the top prize in 2011 with their 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad, nick-named “Snookum.”

Coarsegold Car Show-3The show is promoted by a group of volunteers who took over organizing the show when previous promoters nearly discontinued the event.

Volunteer Carolyn Mather said the big day is driven by “a love for getting all these great cars and people together, to have a good time, and to let the public view these wonderful machines.”

All proceeds from the car show benefit nonprofit outreach and assistance center, Manna House, which operates with an all volunteer staff and is completely funded by community donations.
