O’NEALS – Spring Valley 4-H Club proudly introduces Matthew Shellar as our January member of the month.

Matthew is 11 years old and in 6th grade at Spring Valley Elementary School. This is Matthew’s 3rd year in 4-H. In 2015 he plans on doing rocketry, community service and rabbit projects. He joined 4-H to get experience in showing and giving speeches, but also to have fun. His hobby is soccer and his favorite food is chicken pot pie. Matthew has 4 members in his family and lives in Coarsegold. Have a great 4H year, Matthew!

Spring Valley 4-H had a very festive month of December.

December 2014 Caroling by Spring Valley 4-HOn Dec. 7 our club met at O’Neals fire station for a clean up day, clearing away weeds and cleaning the fire station in preparation for our annual Christmas party.

Our Christmas party was on Dec. 8 for our monthly meeting. We began our party with Christmas caroling to O’Neals resident, Luanne Silkwood, who has supported our club for many years. We had a potluck meal and played games. Our members also participated in a gift exchange and had a bonfire.

The most significant part of our annual event was adopting a local family to help spread the true meaning of Christmas by bringing gifts, food and a decorated Christmas tree. It was a very fun evening!
