Smokey Bear Coloring Contest

OAKHURST – Kids, it’s time to get out your crayons, markers, colored pencils or paints: the 2014 Smokey Bear Coloring Contest is here, and entries have a chance to win some really great prizes!

The deadline for submissions is June 20.

Sierra Tel has co-sponsored the Smokey Bear Coloring Contest with CAL Fire since 1992, in order to help create awareness and educate children on fire safety issues, especially through the summer months.

In addition to coloring the prepared page, kids are asked to answer a question, in 25 words or less: “How can fires caused by humans affect Yosemite National Park?”

Entries are judged by local community members. Winners receive a certificate, cash prizes, and other gifts, which will be presented at the Yosemite Festival on June 28.

Winners and their families will receive free entry into the festival. Smokey Bear, CAL Fire officials, and a fire engine will be part of the celebration, along with a celebratory cake.
