SMLL All Stars Advance Another Round

MADERA – Kudos to the kids in Sierra Mountain Little League (SMLL) All Stars, 10 – 12 age bracket, as the players beat Sunnyside on Monday night 13 – zip.

The All Stars advance to another round after a no-hitter game pitched by Samuel Burnheimer and Chris Ward left Sunnyside in the dust.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Burnheimer threw his 65th pitch of the day. In little league, that’s the limit: 65 pitches means the pitcher must rest for 2 days.

Ward came in to pitch after Burnheimer and sealed the no-hits deal by the end of the 4th inning. SMLL gave Sunnyside “mercy,” or in baseball parlance “mercied them out,” and the game ended with a final score of 13 – 0. We’ve received reports of great base coaching and listening by players, together with tremendous cheers led by Coach Varner.

SMLL All Stars go up against Madera on Tuesday night, July 2, at 8 p.m. in Madera. Go get ’em!
