Local Boutique Is Simply Superb

OAKHURST – Simple to Superb Local Boutique invites everyone to the first of what they hope will become an annual wine tasting event on Friday, Sept. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Those attending will have the opportunity to see what’s new in fashion for fall and winter.

Owner Diane Valadon and manager Krista Gorman say they are excited to show off all the new clothing and accessories they purchased on their last buying trip to exotic locales.The store opened in August 2011, but if you haven’t been there recently, you’re in for a treat.

The Valadons, who own a successful plumbing business in Bakersfield, say they were excited to become a part of the Oakhurst community. Over the next few months Valadon said, she came to the realization many business owners have – no one loves your business as much as you do. She said being an absentee owner left her vulnerable and impacted her business.

In response, she developed a new philosophy: “Out with the old and in with the new!”

Changes were made and a grand re-opening was held in August. Krista Gorman, Diane’s daughter, moved to Oakhurst from Mammoth, where she was managing a retail store. She had been thinking of making a change and felt this was a great opportunity.

Things at the store are now running smoothly. Friendly staff, new merchandise, and a larger selection all make for a pleasing shopping experience. Diane, Krista and Hailey Ziegler each bring a different perspective when it comes to choosing products for the store.

Krista said she immediately began to address an issue that plagues many small towns, the “under-garment problem.” She assures me that it is a top priority for the store now. They have expanded that section of the store and will continue to do so.

One of their newest lines is Ugg brand boots and shoes, which Krista says she is “really excited to offer.” Uggs will be arriving any day now!

Krista says her goal is to bring good quality merchandise to Oakhurst shoppers, and she hopes by doing so, people will think and shop locally before heading to Fresno.
