Sheriff Asks Public’s Help In Identifying Theft Suspects

MADERA — The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a trio of thieves who stole a man’s iPhone while he was in a gas station, and then dragged him behind their truck.

On Tuesday, Apr. 25,  at approximately 3:09 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Lucky 7 gas station (37019 Avenue 12) in Madera Ranchos.

A 62-year-old man had parked his vehicle at the gas pumps and walked into the store. Upon exiting the store, he noticed an Hispanic female in her early 20s inside his vehicle. The victim yelled at the female to stop as she ran from his vehicle with his iPhone in hand.

The female got inside a blue/green colored Chevy S-10 pickup truck with State of Washington license plate #AQX8488.

As the victim grabbed the female, the driver of the Chevy S-10 sped off.

In the video (below) you can see as the man held on to the suspect truck as it dragged him out of the parking lot and back into the parking lot, as the suspect drove into head-on traffic on the opposite lane of Avenue 12.

The victim fell on the ground causing a laceration to his head.

The three suspects had walked into the store prior to the incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information on the identity of the driver (male in grey shirt), the female, and the rear passenger (male wearing the black jacket, red shirt and baseball cap) is asked to call the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 675-7770 or send a Facebook message. Your identity and information will be kept confidential.
