On Saturday, Dec. 17, the Shaw Family Band will perform at Oakhurst EV Free Church, starting at 6 p.m.

The widely-known Shaw Family Band, of Oakhurst, recently won first place at the Visalia Great Western Fan Festival competition for Overall Best Performers.

Following the release of their album, “Everybody Sing Joy,” they traveled across the United States on a 56-day musical tour, performing in five states from California to Virginia this past summer.

The siblings ranging in age from two to twenties, and nine out of the 10 siblings perform. The family harmony includes Chase, 23, Holly, 20, Macy, 18, Justin, 15, Elley, 13, Amy, 11, Lilly, 9, Peter, 7, Daniel, 4, and Joshua, 2 (ages according to the family website).

Their parents are Kevin and Wendy, who met on a blind date, and ultimately encouraged each of their children to take up music in the form of violin at age the impressionable age of four.

Admission to the concert can be gained by bringing high quality canned goods, say organizers, and a love offering will also be taken for Manna House.
