Services For J.R. Froelich

J.R. FroelichOAKHURST — A graveside service with military honor guard is planned for J.R. Froelich on Friday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m. at Oakhill Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life.

Mr. Froelich, 69, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, surrounded by family in Oakhurst. Froelich was a long-time columnist for the Sierra Star newspaper, and performed for many years with the Golden Chain Theatre. On stage, Froelich often appeared as the dastardly villain.

In real life, he was well known, loved, and active in the community.

Following the service at Oakhill Cemetery, Mr. Froelich will be remembered with a celebration of life at Oakhurst Evangelical Free Church on School Road. He is survived by Jan, his wife of nearly 30 years. He also leaves behind daughters Amanda (Brian), Karen, and son Gordon (Karen), along with eight grandchildren — Ashley, Scotty, Stephanie, Katie, Courtney, Brady, Bryce and Avery; and four great-grandchildren — Wayde, Clayton, Jaxon and Shelbie.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in J.R. Froelich’s name to Disabled Veterans of America.
