AT&T Service Restored To Three Counties

MADERA COUNTY – 3 P.M. FINAL UPDATE – Phone and Internet services have been restored to AT&T customers throughout Madera County and beyond, reports company spokesperson Georgia Taylor.

For over 24 hours, land lines and cell phones were affected in three counties, and 911 emergency calls were temporarily re-routed from Madera County to Chowchilla as AT&T repair crews worked to fix the problem.

A dispatcher from Madera County was in Chowchilla fielding those calls. 911 service has been restored, according to AT&T.

The problem began mid-morning on Wednesday, Jan. 21, when a contractor working for a company other than AT&T damaged an underground cable.

Taylor confirms the news that operations have returned to normal.

“All wireline services have been restored for customers in Fresno, Madera and Mariposa counties affected Wednesday morning,” says Taylor. “Technicians worked around the clock to complete the repair and services are currently running normally.”

The company apologized for inconvenience to customers during the outage.
