Search For Hunter Missing Near Iron Lakes

MADERA COUNTY – The Madera County Search and Rescue Team (SAR) was activated last night, Sept 20, to search for an overdue hunter.

A 37-year-old male, who was said to be in the Iron Lakes area of Eastern Madera County, is the subject of the search.

Currently Madera County SAR foot searchers, K-9s, Off-Highway Vehicle teams, and a CHP helicopter are searching the area for the missing hunter, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

The family of the missing man are on scene at the Command Post, which has been set up at Cold Springs Summit, and are being briefed by Sheriff’s Office personnel.

Resources from Fresno County, Tulare County, Marin County, and the California National Guard will also be assisting in the search efforts. Some are at scene, and others will be arriving throughout the night.
