Safe Driving Classes For Seasoned Citizens

OAKHURST — With the overwhelming response to the Age Well, Drive Smart class offered by the Oakhurst Area CHP Office, they have scheduled another class for Friday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m.

This Friday’s class is full, and Public Information Officer Kaci Lutz is encouraging those who wish to be part of this free class to register for the next session.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) implemented the Age Well, Drive Smart program to assist older drivers and their families with the tools to remain safe on the road.

At times, driving appears to be relatively easy, but in fact it is a complex skill. The ability to drive safely is affected by changes in our physical and mental conditions. Many of these changes take place as we get older, though in different ways and at different times.

The CHP invites California’s older drivers to attend a free Age Well, Drive Smart class that provides older drivers the tools to driving safer and driving longer. The class is approximately two hours and is offered at your local CHP Area Office, 40500 Redbud Drive in Oakhurst, as well as many senior centers within the community. The class is a great way for our seniors to educate themselves, evaluate their driving abilities, and improve their driving skills.

If you and/or a family member would like to attend a free Age Well, Drive Smart class, please contact your local CHP Public Information Officer, Kaci Lutz at 559-658-6611.
