Sacata Fire Grows To 500 Acres

FRESNO COUNTY — The Sacata Fire, burning on the Sierra National Forest north of Pine Flat Reservoir, has now grown to 500 acres.

The fire was reported at about 1 p.m. yesterday, and is burning in tall grass, west of Road 10S69 near Deep Creek, and east of Eagle Peak.

Firefighters stayed on the line throughout the night, including crews from the Sierra National Forest along with Cal Fire and other cooperating agencies. This morning, air resources returned to battle the blaze from above.

A Type 2 Incident Management Team will arrive today, and take charge of the fire tomorrow at 6 a.m.

No structures are reported threatened and no evacuations have been ordered.

There is no update as to containment and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
