This is not your Keith Sauer wildlife, but there is a ladybug in it. It’s the Russian River Rose Gardens, where a couple in Healdsburg grow (and sell) roses, which they make into perfume. It is the only estate-produced perfume in the country, I believe. They started out just putting roses at the ends of their rows of wine grapes, but got carried away and now they do this as well as growing grapes.
Healdsburg is only a few miles from where Pat and I started out teaching in Cloverdale, fifty one years ago.This is their house, which began as an 800-square-foot farmhouse:
