COARSEGOLD – There’s never a shortage of fun and educational events at Rivergold Elementary School, and as the last weeks of the Hawks’ 2012-2013 academic year comes to an end, these elements remain at the forefront of every day.
Take a recent Saturday, for instance. As temperatures soared on May 11, student Emily Rich was busy capturing 5th place in the long jump at the Valley Track and Field Championship at Buchanan High School.
On Wednesday, May 15 the staff at Rivergold honored all the “fabulous volunteers on Appreciation Day,” according to Principal Cindy Barnes-Simons. “Tea and cookies were served.”
Students from Rivergold, Coarsegold, Wasuma and OCI joined forces on May 20th to present their “End of the Year Concert” at Rivergold School. Parents enjoyed an evening concert in the multipurpose room.
Randy Hyatt of Yosemite High School led the band. Mrs. Christel Biasell led the choir.
Mrs. Sanguinetti organized a wonderful Scholastic Book Fair for Rivergold students with a yummy ice cream social on the evening of Thursday May 23rd.
That same evening, the 6th grade class performed their Spring production on Greek mythology.
The 5th grade class created a culminating state diorama project.
Finally, mountain area middle school students gathered for a dance at Rivergold, with proceeds supporting the cheer program at Yosemite High.
Have a great summer, Rivergold families!
