Reserve Now For Stage Route Tour

COARSEGOLD – The popular Stage Route Tour, sponsored by the Coarsegold Historical Society, is now in its fifth year and scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Travel by bus from the Coarsegold Museum, 31899 Highway 41 near Lucky Lane, to Knowles and Raymond to visit the area of the quarry and the old railroad terminus.

Tour guides Karen Morris and Gaye Lewis will give a running commentary of places of historical interest as the bus winds its way through the countryside.

The Raymond Museum is next on the tour, with a talk by lifetime resident Anita Fulmer. The bus then heads north on Road 600, just like the freight wagons and stages did 100 years ago, stopping at strategic locations of historical significance along the way.

Enjoy a lunch stop at Wassama Roundhouse, including a fascinating talk on history and traditions by a Native American Elder.

Then it’s on to Oakhurst to see the original site of the town of “Fresno Flats.” Travel up Road 425B, an old stage route, and on down to Coarsegold for a walking tour at the Coarsegold Museum. Guests can avail themselves of desserts and tea, and enjoy docent-led tours.

The much-anticipated bus tour is just $45 including lunch and special dessert. Reservations are required.

To reserve a seat, send name, address, phone and email, along with your check to CHS, PO Box 117, Coarsegold, CA, 93614.
