Reservations Required For Waste Tire Amnesty Day

NORTH FORK — Madera County residents are in luck if it’s someone who happens to have an old tire or two around the yard that didn’t quite make it to Pinterest-status. You were going to craft it into a planter box, or a swing, or sell it on swap but — instead, it’s still on your property creating an unsightly hazard. Maybe you have nine.

If so, you’ll want to know that CalRecycle is funding a Waste Tire Amnesty Day event on Friday, Aug. 25 in North Fork — that means, free tire disposal.

Tire Amnesty Days offer residents a time, place and a no-cost opportunity to dispose of any tires collected around the household. This event also allows the County to receive old tires and haul them away to recycling centers. Tire Amnesty Day also provides neighborhoods with educational information on the benefits of proper tire handling.

It;s required that residents make a reservation for this free service, and no out-of-county tires are allowed to be collected: proof of residency in Madera County is required.

When your reservation is confirmed, details will be given. To make a reservation, call Madera County Code Enforcement at (559) 675-7821. You’ll be directed to the person in charge of Code Enforcement and you may need to leave a message.

The limit is nine tires without rims. Restrictions include: no tractor/diesel tires or larger will be accepted.
