Red Cross Center Open For Willow Fire Evacuees

OAKHURST — The American Red Cross of the Central Valley is opening an evacuation center at the Oakhurst Community Center, 39800 Road 425B, for residents affected by the Willow Fire.

Volunteers will be on scene to provide comfort, snacks, and water for evacuated families. The Red Cross is also coordinating with the Central California Animal Disaster Team to care for domestic pets.

“Our disaster team is fully prepared to transition to a full shelter if evacuations stay in place overnight,” said Jessica Piffero, Regional Director of Communications, “We’re here to make sure these families will be safe and comfortable.”

The Red Cross is able to provide disaster relief services during wildfire season thanks to the generosity of the community. The best way to help current wildfire evacuees is through a financial donation. Visit redcross.org/centralvalley to make an online donation to your local chapter.
