Portion Of Auberry Road Closed Due To Green Fire

PRATHER — The Green Fire, which started yesterday along Auberry Road southeast of Prather, is now 60 percent contained at an estimated 123 acres.

The fire is burning in Fresno County off Auberry Road and White Thorne Road.

Five outbuildings have been reported lost in the fire, but no homes. Firefighters are now working to strengthen firelines and do mop-up.

Auberry Road between Granite Creek and Little Wildhorse remains closed to traffic, but all other roads have been reopened and evacuations only remain in effect for those living within the fire perimeter on White Thorne Road.

An evacuation center has been established at Foothill Middle School located at 29147 Auberry Road in Prather, and a large animal evacuation center has been established at Sierra High School, 33326 Lodge Road, Tollhouse.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

UPDATE: Saturday, July 16 at 6 p.m., this fire is 100 percent contained, and all roads are open, all evacuations lifted.
