Personal Visions of Yosemite By Local Photographers

Submitted by Visit Yosemite, Madera County —

OAKHURST — On Aug. 25, the National Park Service will celebrate its 100th anniversary. In honor of this auspicious event, people everywhere have been asked to discover their own personal connections to parks.

Stellar Gallery, Sierra Art Trails, and Visit Yosemite, Madera County are excited to present this exhibit, honoring our Park, Yosemite National Park, crown jewel of the National Park System with works by Jon Bock, Jerry Bosworth, Michael J. Costa, Michael Frye, Franka Gabler, Jeff Grandy, David Hoffman, Cathy McCrery-Cordle, Steve Montalto, William Neill and Nancy Robbins.

Yosemite and the Central Sierra have always attracted artists. Poets, writers, painters and photographers have been drawn to the majestic landscapes and natural wonders of the region for nearly 200 years. Artists come to find their muse, and many have stayed, making the Yosemite area their home.

For us, by intent or by chance, Yosemite has become OUR park. Like a nurturing parent, its granite arms enfold us, its majestic vistas inspire us, and the sound of its tumbling waters sing us to sleep.

“It has been an exciting time for us preparing for the 100th anniversary with Yosemite National Park and Stellar Gallery,” said Rhonda Salisbury, Visit Yosemite Madera County CEO. “We are honored to be in a community that has extremely talented artists that are passionate about Yosemite National Park and to capture its beauty.”

Sierra Art Trails is a 501c4 non-profit art organization. Our mission is to support working artists and artisans by promoting their work, to foster art education in the region, and to develop the area as an arts destination. Each year, our organization produces the annual Yosemite Foothills Open Studio Tour, and a number of other unique art exhibits and art related events.

Stellar Gallery is committed to presenting a diverse selection of contemporary fine art, with a focus on fine art photography, unique rotating exhibits, and community events that support and promote the visual arts.
