OAKHURST – Sierra Tel invites area residents to return to Oakhurst Community Park this year to celebrate Patriot Day 2015, with Keynote Speaker Lieutenant Colonel David Hall of Coarsegold.

LTC Hall is the current Executive Officer for the 40th Combat Aviation Brigade of the California Army National Guard. The day begins at 9 a.m.

Patriot Day is intended to recognize and show appreciation to all veterans, active duty military and emergency services personnel for their dedication to our country and communities, as well as to honor the memory of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

Included will be a special flag-raising ceremony and pledge of allegiance, patriotic music performances, 21 rifle salute and Taps.

More than 200 people came out for a touching ceremony at the park last year.

“In 2014 we moved this event from Sierra Tel Headquarters to the Oakhurst Community Park, where it really took on a community spirit. With the addition of a shade tent and more chairs, we are hoping for an even bigger crowd this year,” says Laura Norman, Public Relations Supervisor.
