One Dead, One Injured In Coarsegold, Investigation Continues

COARSEGOLD – A man was detained in Coarsegold yesterday after an altercation left his mother with a gunshot wound, and her significant other dead, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, Mar. 30, shortly before 7:30 p.m., Madera County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Road 416 and Robin Hood Drive in Coarsegold for reports of a disturbance.

The details of this incident are unclear at this point, but this is what we know so far.

According to witness statements, there was some type of altercation involving two vehicles traveling on Little John Drive.

The lead vehicle stopped at a residence, and there was an altercation involving the occupants, as well as a male from the residence.

At one point, a male and a female from one of the vehicles were shot. The male is deceased and the 41-year-old female was transported to a local hospital.

The identities of both victims are being withheld at this time.

The female victim has been identified as the shooter’s mother, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and the male decedent is her significant other.

At this time, the details of the shooting remain unclear. A 25-year-old male has been detained and is being interviewed by detectives.
