Oakhurst Resident Dies In Crash On Highway 120

TUOLUMNE COUNTY — One person is dead and another seriously injured after a single-vehicle accident near Sonora last week.

Wayne Dubois, 82, and Artha Dubois, 79, both of Oakhurst, were eastbound on Highway 120 near Buck Meadows in a 1999 Chevrolet pickup at approximately 55 miles per hour, according to CHP.

Artha Dubois was driving, and apparently lost control of the vehicle, turning to the right and onto the dirt shoulder where the truck collided with three signs.

She then swerved abruptly to the left, almost entering the westbound lane, then back to the right and onto the dirt shoulder where the truck sideswiped a pine tree and overturned down an embankment, coming to rest on the passenger side.

Mr. Dubois sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Artha Dubois was seriously injured and was transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Neither drugs or alcohol are suspected to be a factor in the accident, said CHP, who are investigating.
