Oakhurst Elementary Perfect Attendance

OAKHURST — Oakhurst Elementary School recently honored 34 students who earned perfect attendance for the 2016-2017 school year.

The honor is earned by getting to school every single day and being on time. Research strongly supports a strong connection between excellent attendance and academic success.

As the end of the year approached, school principal Kathleen Murphy approached each child individually to explain the rewards he or she could choose from.

This year, students had a choice between a new bicycle and a morning shopping spree at the OES Scholastic Book Fair. After much contemplation, 23 students chose to have a shopping spree and 11 students chose to receive a new bicycle.

Congratulations to the following students who were honored at the recent Flag Salute Program at OES on Wednesday, June 7, 2017:

Kindergarten: Wesley Barlett, Easton Kirby, Ryder Kong, Timothy-Alex Valle

Grade 1: Luisa Garcia, Troy Hendrickson, Katelyn Nguyen, Anya Topper

Grade 2: Jesus Cachu, Elizabeth Garcia Leanos, Kira Peugh, Oliver Punkin, Cadence Williams

Grade 3: Sierra Brooks, Arthur Cachu, Riley Dunbar, Allyson Ferbrache, Logan Peugh, Bianca Ramirez

Grade 4: Cameron Foster, David Garcia, Jayden Henson, Kenshiro Nagata, Brannen Newberry, Kayella Punkin, Mario Soto

Grade 5: Julia Leyva, Jaci Morgan, Bill Gao, Thomas Huynh, Francisco Orozco, Alma Ramirez Heras, Alex Rosales-Garcia, Tristin Sherman

“Our perfect attendance winners are outstanding citizens and academic scholars,” says Mrs. Murphy. “On behalf of the entire OES staff, we wish to thank parents for getting their children to school every day on time, and supporting their child’s academic success.”
