North Fork School’s 23rd Annual 8th Grade Play

Rehearsals are now underway for the 23rd annual North Fork School 8th Grade Play. This year the play is called “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”. This play is a spoof on the original story written by Robert Louis Stevenson, adapted by G. William Oakley.

This play is a spoof on the original story written by Robert Louis Stevenson, adapted by G. William Oakley, about a kind English doctor who is certain that within each man lurks impulses for both good and evil. He creates a potion, which unleashes the evil Dr Hyde inside of him. It takes place in London England, in the late 1890’s. The 8th graders have rehearsals every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. All cast members are busy learning their lines and blocking. The crew, who run all the lights, sound, curtain and special effects, are working very hard to learn all their cues. All the kids are even working on the publicity. The entire 8th grade classes is involved with this project!

Besides the experience of creating and performing this production, this dinner/play is a major fundraiser for the 8th Grade trip to Catalina, and their Graduation, and is sponsored by the Squirrel Cage Theatre Company.There will be a special appearance by all the 4th and 5th graders of North Fork School that evening, performing a selected poem by Robert Louis Stevenson!
