No-Dig, Sheet-Mulch Vegetable Gardening Workshop

No-Dig Sheet Mulch gardeningMADERA — Would you like to try a gardening method that requires less work than the traditional garden? Here’s your opportunity to learn a method that does away with the digging required in the typical vegetable garden and still results in a beautiful, luscious vegetable crop.

UC Cooperative Extension Madera Master Gardener Carol Taylor will present a No-Dig, Sheet-Mulch Vegetable Gardening Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon at Madera Community College Center, 30277 Avenue 12.

The workshop will be in Room R-3A and there is free parking in Lot C near the Three Sisters Demonstration Garden.

It never needs tilling, there’s almost no weeding, set-up takes less than an hour, you can plant immediately using seeds or starts, it builds rich soil automatically, more soil accumulates over time, it conserves water, plants are generally very healthy, production is generally excellent, it will thrive on difficult land and takes less time to maintain.
