Night Closure On Big Oak Flat Road In Yosemite

YOSEMITE —  Yosemite National Park will close the Big Oak Flat Road to all vehicular traffic from 11 p.m on Sunday, June 4, to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 5, from Crane Flat to Foresta in order to finish repairs and repave the road.

This night closure is necessary for the safety of all motorists, say Park officials, as they finalize recent repairs to the road, which was damaged in February.

Paving will continue throughout the daylight hours on Monday, June  5 and Tuesday, June 6, with single-lane closures and up to 15 minutes delays.

The El Portal Road (Highway 140) and the Wawona Road (Highway 41) are open and clear for all vehicular traffic to access Yosemite Valley and Wawona.

Visitors traveling to and from Yosemite National Park are urged to drive with caution, follow posted speed limits, and be aware of rocks and debris on the roadway.

Tioga Road remains closed for the season. Park road crews are working to clear snow and debris, and the Park will release an opening date as soon as the road is safe for travel.
