New Owners Open Cafe In North Fork Slim’s Location

NORTH FORK — Just a few weeks after Slim’s Koffee Shak closed its doors in downtown North Fork, a group of locals has purchased some of the business’ equipment and furnishings and is breathing new life into the location.

A partnership has been formed between Lisa Clark, Art and Mary Ellen Cruz, and Jacob and Heather Vitalec-Perry, to redesign the space and open a cafe, with a new name and an expanded menu.

Everyone is hard at work reconfiguring the interior, sketching out plans for outdoor dining, and testing new items for the menu.

The new cafe will build off some of Slim’s favorite menu items, but there will also be a fresh new line of breakfast and lunch choices, plus a delicious assortment of in-house bakery items made from scratch. That will include cream puffs, eclairs, tarts, cake and cookies, all prepared fresh daily.

Patrons will be able to dine in or grab ‘n go, and online ordering will be available. Of course there will be coffee and tea, plus a nice assortment of hand-crafted sodas. The new name will be announced shortly, and a grand opening is planned for mid-February.

Winter hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and they will be closed on Wednesdays.
